They read the Bible, take the word justice, and apply it to what they are told to by the formerly “mainstream” media. As the slogan says, it’s my body and my choice. They forget at least two things. First, they conveniently ignore that a brand new and unique human being has been conceived and now exists. Secondly, the government exists to prevent the bigger and stronger from taking advantage of the smaller and weaker. That is Bible justice. That is not the government in your bedroom. That is the government exercising its God-given role of preventing injustice.
In the financial world, isn’t that the reason for laws and rulings against monopolies? The smaller, newer, and weaker business should not be pushed out of business, just because they can be by the bigger company.
See how that works? Think about it.
Just because an individual chooses to participate in an institution that talks about the Bible does not mean that they have preached, studied, nor adopted the lifestyle of the Scriptures.
Think about it. Then pray forgiveness, mercy and stand in the gap. Like Job did.
When cultural icons and identity squeeze out every vestige of Christian virtue and standards of justice? We have problems. The nation whose God is the Lord will be blessed. The nation that says that God is the Lord and yet endorses every ungodly practice? That nation is besieged from within and without.
Think about it. Study the Bible. In a world gone crazy, pray that the Word governs all our thoughts, words, actions & life purposes. Intercede for all.
Remember. Thou shalt not kill. Exodus 20:13. Thou shalt not authorize (vote for) killing. Thou shalt not confuse nor harm a pregnant woman or you are liable to the death penalty. A life for a life! Exodus 21:22, 23.
Lord have mercy upon us! Christ have mercy upon us! What prayer does Satan hate more? What is the impact, purpose, and result of such a prayer?
As a witness to the one whom we call Savior and Lord, we pray for forgiveness. How will the world identify the followers of Jesus? By their love. How do we love our spouse, children, brethren, and parents? Surely one of the chief ways is by forgiving them.
Because of our need, we ask for forgiveness as in Daniel 9:4-20. “We have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly (4, 5) …because we have sinned against you (8) …O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen & act! Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin (19, 20) …”
Because of their need, we pray forgiveness over them. Was the prayer of Jesus effective? Was the prayer of Stephen effective? Does the prayer for forgiveness for others have the effect of softening some hearts? Saul was holding the garments for the stoners, assenting to Stephen’s death, Acts 7:58-60. Does this prayer for forgiveness for others take away ground from the evil one? Ephesians 4:27, “Nor give place to the devil.” Rather, by focusing on forgiveness, do we make more precarious the devil’s foothold?
Is praying for forgiveness one of the ways that we take every thought captive, II Corinthians 10:3-5?
It makes sense that we want to pray wisely and effectively during this season of campaigning and voting for president. It makes sense that HIS mighty weapon of forgiveness may sharpen our effectiveness for God’s good and gracious will to happen. Lives will be saved from drive-bys in Chicago. Lives (of the aged and infants, men and women) will be saved in closing down the active wars in our world. Lives will be saved in our mothers’, sisters’, daughters’ & wives’ wombs as we reverse the culture of death into one of glorious life!
“Lord, forgive us, & those who desire to continue the senseless slaughter of the innocents. Lead us to pray effectively with the weapon of forgiveness!”

My eyes swell up with tears. My anger is kindled against the author of lies. I plead with my former church friends, listen to the Word! Hear the Word! Submit to the Word! Instead, they listen to lies & continue the killing.
God says, “Thou shalt not kill.” The world tells us that abortion is a precious right of women. What is abortion? Abortion is killing. Every civilized person, every moral person should oppose abortion with all their might. Every Christian, above everyone else, should wholeheartedly oppose this hellish act & worldly message.
Every Christian prophet, priest, pastor, teacher, deacon, elder, bishop and pew occupier should fiercely oppose abortion!
After all, it’s a matter of justice. Who are the victims? The precious little ones. Who cannot speak up for themselves? The precious little ones. Who is any government supposed to protect? The precious little ones. Love demands that we tell the truth. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross demands we tell His truth. Proverbs 31:8, is His Word for us. Defend the defenseless. Christ died for us. We are to lay down our lives for our little brothers and sisters. How was your worship? What meaning did it have? How did it make you feel? Did you feel butterflies? Did your skin crawl with excitement? Did you feel like running? Dancing? Shouting? Did you shed a tear? Did anyone weep, moan, or shriek? Did God show up? We all want to justify our choice of worship place and associations. We all want to prove to ourselves that our worship is real, and heaven is our home.
I was struck by the Collect of the day at Our Savior Lutheran Church (& School!), 5000 West Tidwell. Sometimes I am struck by various aspects of our time together as a family of faith. Sometimes I am thunderstruck! As God ministers His Truth and Presence to my whole person, my faith in the Gospel is clarified and strengthened. Sometimes it is the depth and importance of the Bible teaching by Pastor White and our other Bible teachers. Sometimes it is the beauty of the Christ-centered hymns. Sometimes it is the list of opportunities to minister to our world, from Moms with surprise pregnancies to supporting the millions in native churches world-wide. Often it is the pure Gospel sermon, simple and succinct!
But on this day, one of my revelation receptions was in the Collect. The Collect (pronounced usually with the emphasis on the first syllable instead of the second) is a brief but significant prayer related in thought to the Gospel or the theme of the day, and its chief function is to prepare the mind for hearing the Scripture lessons.
In the middle of this short prayer was this phrase. “Grant that we may love what You have commanded and desire what You promise…” Wow. Slow that down. Repeat it to yourself. Slowly, do it again. Pray it now. Let the wonder and depth and on-target sentiment focus your mind. Center your existence. Become your standard. Wash over you. Praise God!

Jim Freudenstein, 4-29-2024, 832-654-7791, jfreud1953@gmail.com

Repeatedly? At unusual times? In unusual places? Sometimes as a grunt? Sometimes as a groan? Sometimes as a sigh? Sometimes as a shout? Often with tears? “Mercy!” Why do I say “Mercy”?
In our world we have a predicament. Watchmen whom God has placed all over the world, are seeing the falling of the Judgment of the Lord. Ezekiel 33:1-17. These individuals are allowing the government, fear of unpopularity, fear of loss of income, fear of scratches and dents to their lives, families, vehicles and homes…cramp their style. Shut their mouths. Hush their bold witness. Prevent them from being salt and light in the middle of a wicked and perverse generation.
It is called lack of a fear of God.
In our world today, many have spoken the devil’s message of death, as if it were a form a salvation. It is not! It is the very real chains of mortality now and eternity without God. Keep abortion legal? My body, my choice? Abortion is healthcare?
Abortion is the bigger, stronger, oppressor and aggressor bullying the smaller, passive, weaker human child into death. Abortion is bullying.
Abortion is when the bigger, stronger, more aggressive, conscience numbed Mother, Doctor and abortion ally have their way and the tiny human dies. Abortion is murder. The oppressed ones die. Abortion is injustice.
Abortion, as unnatural and decisive an action puts the mom at risk for many medical ills and lifelong guilt, depression, poverty, bruised and hardened consciences and death. Abortion is enslavement of women.
Abortion cheapens all life. Gang slayings, drive-bys, drugs, addictions, unnecessary taxes, loss of integrity, selfishness, anger, violence? Loss of worldwide prestige? Loss of worldwide clout? We are doing it to ourselves! And our Pastors are leading the way from behind with their deathly silence. Where are the men of God? Where are the thundering pulpits? Repent! Trust God! Preach His Word!
That is why I say, “Mercy.”

This is not to be taken lightly! That is why we study hard, pray diligently, and with fear and trembling attempt the task of preaching, teaching, and sharing.
Ezekiel 33:1-20 ups the ante and heightens this tension. Weigh with reverent minds the admonitions of the Scriptures. Mercy! This warning is extremely specific. “When I bring the sword against a land…and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head…But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.” (This and all Bible quotes from Concordia Self-Study Bible, NIV, CPH, 1986.)
Every man of God I believe should know the Ten Commandments. I also believe that every man of God is responsible for knowing the context of those commandments in our land, time, and culture. Exodus 21:22, 23, makes it abundantly clear, everyone who supports killing babies is justly condemning themselves. Galatians 5:19-21, KJV, further clarifies who receives the Kingdom of God. Those who support abortion by voting for baby killers are responsible for abortion. Those responsible for murder are murderers. Therefore, all voting to kill babies shall not receive the kingdom of God—shall not go to heaven. Mt.7:23.
Not to be confused, salvation is by grace through faith. This salvation is by grace alone and by faith alone. However, this saving faith is never alone. This saving faith is always accompanied by fruit meet for repentance. Killing babies is never a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The sword of the Lord is coming on this nation because of abortion. May we stop sinning. May we understand this & repent! Then may we protect the babies! May we pray, donate time & money, vote & speak up for these little ones, defenseless & innocent, cute & cuddly, beautiful creations of God!

All winter long the planned for activities are talked about and eagerly waited for. Then comes the decisive moment. The sun is shining. The pool is there. The water is there. The swimsuits are on. The famous “floaties” are around the middle and on the arms. Daddy says “Jump!”
Some children jump quickly. Some children have a little debate with themselves. Then they jump. And some children decide not to jump. They “look at the wind and the waves” and they say no. They know that they are loved. They know their Daddy is big and strong. But they have a feeling they cannot shake. It is fear.
This fear is stronger than their trust. Our situation in this world is much the same. Every child of God is asked to deny themselves, their goals, their fears, and act in faith. Sometimes that looks scary. Sometime that looks insane! I am certain that the story of Moses is told the way it is to remind us that God has a way of challenging our comfort zones. God called him to act in faith.
What is faith? Faith is knowledge of our Father and His Word. Faith is also assent to that knowledge. We agree that God is real, His love is unconditional, and His Promises are sure. But the biggest part of faith is trust. This trust reveals itself in our obedience to His Word of Truth.
When we are pondering the weaknesses, the injustices, and the violence of our culture, some of us point to abortion as the seed, the cause. That there is a child not planned for is partly due to the weaknesses of our culture. That abortion is an example of injustice, violence, unkindness, and bullying, many of us see this clearly. Not everyone sees it this way.
So, when we are asking friends, family, and fellow churchgoers to see it our way, the “wind and the waves” may just be too much for them to manage. They may cringe at the wind of CNN and the waves of “you want me to vote for whom???!!” Let us be sure of God’s rebuke on us due to abortion. Let us be aware of our weaknesses and disobediences. Let us be patient and persistent in our pursuit of justice for the little ones. May we all jump when Jesus says, “Jump!”
Jim Freudenstein, 11-29-2023

Moral decisions, life commitments, and taking up our crosses require in depth study of the Word of God. The Christian gets cues and clues from the Word of God. The world often has difficulties with the follower of Jesus. Psalm 119:105, The Word lights our path!
John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” The Word sanctifies us to be Christ’s healing, redeeming, and transforming presence in the world.
Now let us do it. Let us take the flashlight of His word and shine it into the dark places of the world. Since we belong to Christ, we want to show His transforming and wise love to the world.
What does God’s Word say about our world? What is a Christian supposed to do to bring Christ’s loving presence to many divisive and difficult topics and situations? Many things divide my family today. These things just did not exist when I was young.
Abortion? If the little one in the womb is not alive or not human, it may be possible to disagree amicably.
What does God’s Word say?
Well, the word abortion is not in the Bible. But the value God places on life in the womb is clear. Exodus 21:22, 23, “If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life”
If the baby is born and lives, only a fine is levied and paid. If the baby dies? The perpetrator of the harm loses his life also. Let us repeat that. If the baby dies because of the harm inflicted, that person loses his life also.
Does voting for abortion qualify as “harm”? Does legalized abortion confuse the young mother? Does abortion create a climate where the baby in the womb is made less valuable? In allowing for the legal killing of the youngest and most vulnerable among us, have wife abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, murders, bullying, and injustice flourished? Are we reaping what we have sown? Just because the world devalues human life, should we give up? How can we help restore the morals, wisdom, and loving truth of God?
Many in our world sanction, order and enable the murder of other people, without wielding a weapon themselves. The mafia, gangs, and other circles of evil influence make us all too familiar with this dynamic. One does not have to hold the smoking gun to be responsible for the murder carried out.
My suggestion is that every Christian should read the Bible, commit to the Bible, obey the Bible, and share the truth. Proverbs 31:8, “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”
That verse tells me that we should champion the cause of all such little innocent ones. We should speak out! We should vote to protect them! God forgive us for failing to distinguish this truth of God from the error of the world. God grant us the strength and courage to stand on God’s Word! Difficult though it may be, let us stand up for life!
Jim Freudenstein, 8-29-2023, jfreud1953@gmail.com, 832-654-7791

The grass and gardens soak up the life-giving nectar. Streams and brooks bubble and chuckle with the abundance of rain. What a precious gift!
In Isaiah 53:10 and 11, God promises life giving blessings by His Word. We could read it aloud or review it quietly. We could recite it or sing it! Only His Word has this effect and promise from Him! It will come to pass!
Man may attempt to mimic this effect by creating, developing, and repeating lies and competing philosophies. But we have God’s clear picture and gracious promise!
“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater;” We can see this as we look or go outside after a fresh rainfall. We can smell it and we can also hear it. The delight of water refreshed nature is pure and real.
“So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Can it be that the overturning of Roe v. Wade is the result of God working in us His will and pleasure? Is it possible that as we share God’s Word, pray God’s Word, and sing God’s Word, “Thy will be (is) done on earth as it is in heaven?” The grace-filled delight of God’s people is real. Can it be that God’s grace invites us to delight in His glorious victory? God grant that we keep on believing and confessing His pure truth and will!
Watch the Word become evident and concrete. In our families and world, God answers prayer! Keep on reading, reviewing, and reminding angels, each other and ourselves, God’s Word has abundant fruit! We can watch it, come to pass.
Jim Freudenstein, 10-3-2023, 832-654-7791, jfreud1953@gmail.com

It says in Ezekiel 33:1-20, “When I bring the sword upon a land...”
Has He done so in the past? In Judges 2:11 it says, “Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals.” According to Brittanica.com, “Baal, god worshipped in many ancient Middle Eastern communities, especially Canaanites.” But what does Baal worship look like? According to Washington Monthly.com, 2008/12/22, “Ritualistic Baal worship, in sum, looked a little like this: Adults would gather around the altar of Baal. Infants would then be burned alive as a sacrificial offering to the deity.”
What was the result of this practice in Israel? Judges 2:13 says, “And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So, God delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.”
Let us understand this. Baal was worshiped in many ancient Middle Eastern communities. As Baal worshipers they killed babies. They lost their land to the Israelites. Then when Israel/Judah adopted Baal worship, they lost their land to their enemies. Deportation of the Northern Kingdom occurred in 721 BC. A series of displacements happened in Judah in 597, 586, and 582 BC.
In the “New World,” the Americas, the Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs lost their lands to invaders. These natives did their own human and infant sacrifices.
Now in the United States, for five decades, we have sacrificed babies on the altars of convenience, careers, selfishness, and hardheartedness. We have lost the point of view of babies as a treasured blessing of the Lord. We have adopted the point of view of babies as a burden and a nuisance. They are viewed as bringers of poverty. They are expensive, time consuming and heartbreaking. They are “Vipers in diapers” a Christian teacher once said.
Do we face similar judgments as the Israelites? Will God deliver us into the hands of our plunderers? (Chinese) Will God deliver us into the hands of our enemies? (Terrorists) Has He already begun this just Judgment? And were not the two most baby killing countries in the world hit hardest by the Covid crisis? The United States and China? It is time for all of us to repent and pray as King David in Psalm 51, and Daniel in Daniel 9:3-19. In my humble opinion, all of us need to pray.
Jim Freudenstein
8-11-2023

Everyone in the United States who votes so-called “Pro-Choice” does. Everyone so deceived by the devil does. Everyone who is convinced God is so small that He cannot provide “daily bread” for the people of the world. (People believing there is no God.) Everyone who is in love with ease and comfort and entertainment does this. Everyone who calls evil good and good evil, Isaiah 5:20.
When we pray for their forgiveness, we pray for God to open the door to their understanding, that they might see anew their spiritual poverty and throw themselves on God’s mercy. Then they might pray along with all of us and King David, “Have mercy on me, O God…Blot out my transgressions. Wash me…cleanse me from my sin…You desire truth in the inward parts…Create in me a clean heart…and renew a steadfast spirit within me…Restore to me the joy of Your salvation…Then will I teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You…The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.”
They also might pray with us and with Daniel (9:5) “…we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets…” Psalm 130:4,5, and 7, “But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, And in His word do I hope…O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.”
The Holy Spirit inspired a movement recently. Their prayer was, “Jesus, pido tu sangre sobre mis peccados and los peccados de my nacion. Dios, pare aborcion y mande renacamiento en America, en el nombre Jesu Cristo.” “Jesus, I plead your Blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, stop abortion and send renewal to America, In Jesus Name!” Psalm 138:6, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me.” Praise God! Praise God! When I found out what abortion was, I knew right away that only praying Christians would be responsible for the end of such a hideous practice.
The practice has not ended. There are still states, companies, politicians, “churches,” etc., promoting the killing of babies. From my perspective, abortion is an example of injustice, murder, premature death, and senseless violence. The thought that comes to my mind is: Whatever we sow, we shall reap, Galatians 6:7. We have not yet ended this evil barbarism in our land. Our holocaust has not ended. There are still babies and their mothers and their fathers who need rescuing. Why are we still tolerating this hideous practice? Are we aware and do we care enough to be their champions? (Proverbs 31:8)
What does the popular media endlessly beat into our minds? “There’s injustice out there. People are dying out there by natural disasters, gang and drug warfare, medical situations, (prescriptions, overdoses and street misuse and greed), and accidents.”
We are only reaping what we have sown. By our votes, by our greed, by our thirst for power and prestige, we have given ground to the enemy, Ephesians 4:17-19, 27. That means we have given the devil legal right and permission to kill, steal and destroy in our families, neighborhoods, and nation. Has anyone lost a spouse, a child, a cousin, a sibling to early death? Has anyone “put two and two together” and taken responsibility for the ongoing sin and curse of abortion?
By my estimation, liberal churches of every denomination, have promoted death over appreciation of the preciousness of life. By my estimation, so-called conservative churches of every stripe, have allowed this to occur by their silence, apathy and ignoring of God’s clarion call to prayer and action. The guilt and responsibility belong to everyone!
Does anyone know the truth? Does anyone care?
Ezekiel 33:1-20 says that failure to speak up means the blood that is shed in the coming judgment—will be charged to those who knew the Word and were silent. Are we silent?
Proverbs 31:8, tells every believer, every moral person, every civilized person to become the “champion” of the unborn. Are you a believer? Are you moral? Are you civilized? …. Are you a defender of all those who cannot speak up for themselves? Who are appointed to destruction?
Appointed to destruction, like the humans in the womb who are scheduled for early death. Appointed to destruction by their moms in our abortion mills.
The quote of Micah 6:8 calls for us to “do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” According to the context, our idolatry is revealed if we continue to kill (or tolerate the killing of) babies, verse seven. According to God, justice begins with the stopping of the killing of the babies.
At this point I burst into tears again. Where is my obedience? Where are my time and money, prayers and energies being directed? Babies are dying! Too many of my family, friends and neighbors support killing babies. This is due to the prayerlessness and lack of organizing and ‘Bible ignoring’ of too many of us. It is due to my comfortable life. I have become too comfortable with the status quo. Have I been reticent or outspoken? Have I been irresponsible or responsible? Have I been faithless or faithful? How am I continuing to allow this culture of death to remain unaddressed? Who shall deliver our society from the immorality of letting babies perish? Where is our agony, repentance, and renewal for this cause of God?
Can anyone join me in a call to more fearless action and “gates of hell praying” in a truly just cause? Is God calling you also?
May God grant us the heavenly backbone to love the lost, intercede for those supporting the devil’s agenda of death and see greater protection for the unborn! Not only the unborn, but the elderly, the deformed, and the depressed. Let this happen in every state of our nation and in every nation of our world! Is God calling you to this also?

Lies are being perpetuated throughout the media and from the highest political offices in our country.
We must stand up to these lies with truth and love and create a culture that truly values and respects life. This can be done with very simple things like standing outside of Planned Parenthood in prayer, speaking up when someone is misinformed about abortion, volunteering or donating to local pregnancy centers, or supporting policies that protect the preborn and their mothers. Even something as simple as sidewalk chalk can be used to plant the first seeds of the pro-life message in someone’s head.
We cannot stay silent.
We cannot prioritize our comfort over the lives of the innocent and defenseless. Doing so has only enabled this culture of death to fester. At times, the world seems too far gone in the wrong direction to remain hopeful of any change. It is at these times that we must focus on the things in our lives that we can control and trust in God to handle the rest.
Our God has overcome far greater odds; He can handle this too.
Thanks be to God that Roe is no more!
--

God bless,

Elyssa
